What To Do

What To Do

Luckily there are tons of things to see and do in Washington, DC! Below are just a few of our recommendations. If you would like to see some things a little more off the beaten trail, let us know! We have plenty more interesting sights to see, museums to visit, restaurants to try, and adventures to take!

The Smithsonian includes more than 20 museums across the city.  You could spend weeks across them all and not see everything!

Being the seat of our national government, we of course recommend seeing the Capitol of the United States! The link here should help you with everything you need. We recommend scheduling a tour of the Capitol building through your Congressperson. The staff led tours are one of the best ways to see this historic and beautiful building.

The Library of Congress is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city. It is a wonderful place to visit and very central to all the greatest things to see in the city!

One of the best resources for what's going on every week in DC is the Washingtonian. This is one of our favorite culture magazines for the city and their online list of things happening is a first reference for any week in the city.

The Deets

The Deets

is it really on a friday?

Yes! We know it's tough in terms of time off from work, but we hope you can make it!  We both think this is a good way to have the weekend free for sightseeing and other fun!

How do I get to the venue?

Unfortunately, there is only street parking available around the venue.  However, DC is an extremely accessible city and we recommend Uber, Lyft, a cab, or the metro if you are inclined!  Josephine Butler is about a brisk mile walk from the nearest metro stop, Columbia Heights (on the Green/Yellow line).

What should I wear?

We hope our wedding is a fun excuse to bring out your best fancy and fabulous black tie optional attire!  Daniel and Bessie love getting dressed up and hope everyone else does too!  If you are thinking: Optional, hmmm?? - this article took the words out of our mouths!  It may get a little chilly in DC in November, so we suggest bringing a shawl or coat!  There will be a coat check if you get too hot dancing!

Are children invited?

We love ALL kids of all ages, but have chosen for our wedding day to be an adults only celebration!  (we are hoping to get all the parents to ourselves for a fun evening of dinner, dancing, and hopefully a lot of shenanigans!).  We thank you so much for your understanding!  Please contact us if you need any recommendations or help arranging for child care!

Do you have a wedding hashtag?

#PARKhurstRANGERS (you knew we couldn't get married without a pun SOMEWHERE)

When should I RSVP by?

Please let us know if you are attending by no later than October 13th, 2017!  You can RSVP here or by snail mail!
